Arkansas Poly purchases F&K Flexpress 16S

November 2006

Fairfield, N.J.—Arkansas Poly (Van Buren, Arkansas) has ordered a 59-inch, sleeve-based, gearless Fischer & Krecke Flexpress 16 S. The new eight-color press is built on a ten-color frame to allow it to be easily upgraded to ten colors. The efficiency, high production speed, and rapid changeover capabilities will allow Arkansas Poly to retire two older presses, while increasing overall production.

According to Jeff Gosey, VP Manufacturing and Production, the F&K press will allow a reduction of changeover times by up to four hours.

“We did our homework and ultimately decided F&K offered us more opportunities. In addition to quality print and high-speed production, we were impressed with the press’s ability to set up future jobs while the press was running, contributing to the extraordinarily fast changeovers. We are all about efficiency and exceeding the quality print our customers demand. We needed to make a huge advance in our capabilities and the closer we looked, the more we liked the Flexpress to get us where we wanted to be, on the road we wanted to take,” Gosey said.

The first Fischer & Krecke Flexpress was introduced at DRUPA 2000 and since then, more than 180 have been sold throughout the world. All Flexpresses are servo driven, gearless, computer-controlled, and sleeve-based and the press design continues to undergo evolutionary design improvements.

Flexpress options include Flexpress Access®, Flexpress View®, Flexpress Carbon®, Flexpress Motion®, and Flexpress Autoclean®.

Access® is a Fischer & Krecke technology that dramatically reduces changeover times by allowing operators to safely set up non-operational print stations of one printing job while the current job is still running.

Flexpress View® is an Internet-based service and maintenance system allowing access to F&K technical experts located anywhere in the world for troubleshooting, or system programming.

Flexpress Carbon® is a patented and unique sleeve material technology that is lightweight but exceptionally strong. Flexpress Carbon enhances all the benefits of sleeve-based flexo printing and extends these benefits to wider widths.

F&K’s Motion® automation and production management system brings all the production components in a modern printing facility together into a single, unified system and ensures a printer can take full advantage of the rapid changeovers and 2,000 fpm speed capabilities of the press.

Flexpress Autoclean® automates wash-up; the most laborious and unpleasant job for printing press operators and contributes significantly to reducing changeover times.
