FFTA Launches New Student Internship Program

February 2007
RONKONKOMA, N.Y.—The Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association (FFTA) announced the launch of a new summer internship program available to all high school or college-level students. FFTA’s new program, the first of its kind for the foundation, is aimed at linking students who are looking for experience in the workforce with companies who are in the market for summer help.

Doreen Monteleone, FFTA’s director of special projects and EHS commented, “FTA understands the importance of guiding young adults into the corporate world. By taking advantage of this program, students can gain real-world experience, a practical understanding of the flexographic print process and the chance to apply lessons learned in the classroom. In exchange, companies can benefit from the added summer help and the fresh perspectives that students can offer.”

This new program follows on the heels of FTA’s newly re-energized student member program. FFTA/FTA President Mark Cisternino said, “FTA staff executed a thorough reassessment of the existing Student Membership category late last year, making key modifications when and where necessary. Since then, our student membership has grown by leaps and bounds, with schools across the world, from California to Sweden, now taking advantage of the low annual dues of $25 and the wealth of benefits that comes with FTA membership. This new intern program was a natural move in aiding our future flexographers.”

For more information or to download the applications (student or company), visit FTA’s Web site (http://www.flexography.org/about/internship.cfm) or contact Doreen Monteleone at 631-737-6020, ext. 30. Completed applications can be faxed to Doreen’s attention at 631-737-6813. All applications must be received by April 15, 2007.

For more information on becoming a FTA Student Member, please contact Sharon Cox, FTA director of marketing & membership services at 631-737-6020. Benefits include free admission to all FTA/FFTA sponsored seminars, conferences & exhibitions, complimentary subscriptions to FLEXO Magazine, access to FTA sponsored scholarships and research stipends, a welcome package that contains some of the industry’s top-selling publications, FTA’s monthly electronic newsletters and access to FTA’s Members Only Web site.
