Flexible Packaging Technology Center at CMM 2007

November 2006
NASHUA, N.H.—The latest advancements in flexible packaging printing and converting will be demonstrated on the show floor at CMM International 2007 in Chicago, June 4-7. An innovative new Flexible Packaging Technology Center, will feature a new Bobst/Schiavi electronic flexo press from its 10-color CI EF 50 press series, Profama’s new Pratica1200 slitter/rewinder, and a variety of other equipment from leading manufacturers. The new Technology Center will provide thousands of converters from around the world with the opportunity to experience each step of the converting process while discussing the technology with a variety of industry experts.

“We are delighted that we can provide CMM attendees with a hands-on opportunity of experiencing running equipment producing actual jobs,” says Jim Enos, CMM show director. “The leading request of every CMM attendee survey conducted over the last several years is to see more running equipment at the show.”

These sentiments were echoed by Alain Jendly, vice president, flexible materials products, Bobst Group USA Inc. “This is truly a unique opportunity for converters to experience the most effective methods of handling a flexible packaging job from start to finish,” he said. “Delivering high-end graphics with fast turnaround is an essential equipment requirement for the profitability of every flexo printing operation. The Bobst/Schiavi EF 50 series in demonstration is a showcase of the most advanced components and solutions for minimizing job makeready, changeovers, and waste on a CI flexo press. All technical features and devices have been developed and manufactured by Schiavi and Bobst, thus providing a fully integrated machine architecture that enables optimum press performance and maximum productivity.”

Mauro Consalvi from Profama said, “We are a proud sponsor of the CMM Technology Center. We were immediately impressed with the opportunity to let the attendees view, touch, and witness the full capabilities of our equipment. We believe this forum will benefit all attendees who are looking to purchase new converting equipment or to evaluate the latest developments in the industry.”

In addition to the Bobst/Schiavi new EF 50 series CI electronic flexo press, the 100´ x 60´ Tech Center will feature a Profama slitter/rewinder, a coating/laminating machine, an inspection system, bag machine, and other equipment from leading manufacturers. The flexo printing demonstrations will include graphic subjects featuring different types of printing to demonstrate the consistent high-quality print reproduction achievable for different requirements, while the fast makeready and job change operations will show visitors the effectiveness of the various time- and waste-saving functions and technical solutions featured on this high-performance flexo press.
