FTA Bestows Hall of Fame, President’s Awards

May 8, 2009
RONKONKOMA, N.Y.—Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) has inducted Mark R. Mazur, digital prepress consultant for DuPont Imaging Technologies, into its Hall of Fame. He is the 47th person to enter the prestigious society. The announcement was made at Foundation of FTA’s 2009 Forum in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

Fellow Hall of Famer Jean Jackson said, “Mark was instrumental in the compilation and update of FIRST (FTA’s Flexographic Image Reproduction Specifications and Tolerances) 4.0. He is committed to moving our art toward science and in the process moving this whole industry forward and making things better for us all.”

At FTA’s Forum, Mazur has been a regular presenter since 1993, when he shared the stage with fellow FTA Hall of Fame member Tony Bart. He has been on the agenda of 10 of the 16 Forums that followed. Mazur has also been a fixture on the FFTA’s Forum Committee and has served on the FIRST Color Management Subcommittee, as well as FIRST’s Prepress Subcommittee.

Greg Collins, FTA chairman, stated, “Mark does what few others can do. He is constantly looking to improve, run and tag things. He is very personable and has such a strong desire to help people to learn. Simply put, he is driven to make them (flexographers) better. What a great asset to FTA!”

FTA also acknowledged the dedicated service and noteworthy contributions of a trio of industry volunteers, bestowing its President’s Award on each of them.

Mark Coffman of Dixie Graphics, has pledged his time and expertise to the FTA on a variety of fronts over the years. He has long been a part of the Excellence in Flexography Awards competition as an awards judge and has participated in a variety of capacities on FFTA Forum programs.

• Finishing up his 6-year tenure on the FTA Board of Directors and FFTA Board of Trustees at this year’s Forum, Paul Lancelle of Eastman Kodak Co. has been an active leader of the two governing boards, having worked his way up to FFTA Board Chair from 2006-2008 and Immediate Past Board Chair for the past year. Through his steadfast leadership and unwavering determination, he was at the helm as this organization’s leadership became actively involved in re-engineering the FTA and FFTA.

• The final President’s Award recipient this year, Allen Marquardt of Kimberly-Clark Corp., has stepped up to the plate from the consumer product company (CPC) community and committed himself to making a difference within the FTA. He was a stakeholder in the development of the Sustainable Green Printing (SGP) Partnership, which FTA co-founded in 2007-2008 alongside several other graphic arts associations.
