Heidelberg Takes HEI Value and HEI Performance to drupa

May 2008
Heidelberg is showcasing a broad range of end-to-end solutions spanning all aspects of offset printing this year at drupa. The company will be using a display area of more than 7,800 square meters (approximately 84,000 square feet) to demonstrate a diverse range of print jobs from all relevant segments.

From prepress through press to postpress—every single stage is integrated using the various modules of the Prinect workflow software. This huge portfolio gives Heidelberg customers the tools they need to cope with the cost pressures in the industry.

Heidelberg is taking part in the tradeshow presentation under the slogans “HEI Performance” and “HEI Value”. Visitors to drupa will be able to see for themselves the company’s solutions that create real added value for customers. During the tradeshow, the entire Heidelberg portfolio will be further enhanced by a comprehensive range of service offerings, advice, and various specialist tours.

“The primary aim behind our comprehensive portfolio is to ensure our customers’ success,” said Dr. Jürgen Rautert, member of the management board at Heidelberg during a press conference in Düsseldorf. “Simply producing machinery that works well is far from satisfying the needs of customers in our sector. What really matters is the level of integration, transparency, and of course, productivity of the various systems.

“We are the only company in the world that can offer all these things from a single source,” he explained. “And what’s more, we don’t just talk about this integration know-how, we also make it available to our customers to use in real life,” adding that Heidelberg is taking part in this year’s industry Olympics as a true “decathlete.” Elaborating on the metaphor, he described how the various requirements and disciplines of the print media industry have been brought together in this ultimate event—the individual disciplines have been honed in tandem, enabling Heidelberg to offer an all-in-one package that is unrivalled in the industry.

In the words of Bernhard Schreier, chief executive officer of Heidelberg—this type of integration is both achievable and crucial. “drupa will provide the entire industry with new impetus and direction,” stated Schreier, who explained how more and more customers are discovering all the advantages enjoyed by an integrated print shop—an essential in the sector.

Heidelberg is also focusing on package printing. By moving into the large-format market (with the Speedmaster XL 145 and Speedmaster XL 162), the company’s portfolio is being extended upwards. Thanks to its special workflow components developed specifically for this segment and an accompanying range of platesetters, Heidelberg is again the only supplier to cover the entire production line.
