Kodak Ships 200th Thermoflex CTP Device

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—August 9, 2005 - Kodak's Graphic Communications Group (GCG) is pleased to announce the sale of its 200th THERMOFLEX computer-to-plate (CTP) device. The product line has expanded over the years to include several size formats and speeds to allow printers and converters to scale a flexographic CTP system to match their specific requirements. Today, there are THERMOFLEX devices installed and operating on every continent (except Antarctica), and the product family combined with Kodak's PRINERGY POWERPACK workflow has established its reputation as the digital flexographic solution of choice for flexographic professionals worldwide.
The shipment of the THERMOFLEX Wide device to The Robinette Company of Bristol, TN marks the 200th installation. The Robinette Company is a full-service flexible packaging and specialty converter serving the eastern US. The company supplies a diverse array of packaging including multi-wall bags, full-body shrink sleeve labels, laminated films and plastic bag packaging for the retail market. Since its beginnings in 1987, Robinette has grown to become a 250-employee company with two 100,000+ square foot facilities. The THERMOFLEX device was installed in June, along with the PRINERGY POWERPACK prepress workflow system, the TRENDSETTER SPECTRUM digital halftone proofer, award-winning HYPERFLEX resolution enhancement software, and MAXTONE, DIGICAP and Raster Scaling advanced flexo screening solutions.
Robinette's decision to purchase this end-to-end solution was driven by the company's fundamental commitment to exceeding customer expectations--both from a quality and efficiency standpoint. By integrating CTP into its operations, Robinette will now be able to manufacture digital flexo plates in-house, as well as benefit from the inherent productivity and quality improvements of a digital workflow. The combination of screening technologies, and the ability of the THERMOFLEX device to produce repeatable, high-quality line screens, will allow Robinette to produce high-impact packaging and diversify into new markets.
