Continuous Improvement Conference Slated

February 13, 2009
LEXINGTON, Ky.—Printing Industries of America is hosting the 2009 Continuous Improvement Conference April 5-8 at the Lexington Downtown Hotel & Conference Center in Lexington, Ky.

The heart of the event is a grouping of 60-minute case studies of printers describing their successful Lean and continuous improvement initiatives. A number of the case studies can provide information for those just starting to learn about Lean, and others are suited for those with more experience.

The special Tuesday with Toyota will feature a tour of Toyota’s largest plant in North America and a chance to witness Kaizen, just-in-time parts delivery, kanban, and the andon system in action. In addition, the event will feature talks by current and former Toyota managers discussing the Toyota Production System, how Toyota creates and sustains its culture, and its approach to training.

The keynote presentation will explore how NASCAR race teams use the concepts of teamwork, total production maintenance, and visual systems to eliminate waste and failures.
