New Design Life-Cycle Management Initiative

August 2005
VANDALIA, Ohio—Esko-Graphics, the leader in packaging pre-production solutions and world leader in digital imaging of flexo plates, announces its new Design Life-Cycle Management Initiative in North America.  The suite of software and hardware streamlines the package-design and production process - from ideation through design, packaging and production - to produce significant cost and time-savings.  In addition to efficiencies, Design Life-Cycle Management is a strategic tool that can accelerate the development of market-leading packaging innovations.

Esko-Graphic's Design Life-Cycle Management Initiative is designed to be part of a Product Life-Cycle Management (PLM) solution. Complete PLM solutions help to manage product design, packaging design, production and manufacturing. Esko-Graphics provides a best-in-class, web-networked solution that can be fully integrated into other key components of PLM.

Key tools in the Design Life-Cycle Management solution are based around Scope workflow products. Components of Scope include DeskPack, BackStage, PackEdge and WebCenter. Fully customizable to meet the specific needs of its clients, all solutions are modularly-based, allowing easy upgrades and additions over time as client needs change and evolve.

"Our work with consumer product companies, private-label retailers and their graphic communications partners has given Esko-Graphics the experience to drive cost out of the design-chain," says Simon James, executive vice president & general manager, Esko-Graphics. "Our Design Life-Cycle Management solutions will speed time-to-market and dramatically reduce costs, while also helping to eliminate errors."

The larger field of PLM gives organizations the ability to exchange project information in real time across the complete project lifecycle. A number of PLM projects have been recently undertaken by Fortune 500 companies, and produced substantial cost and time savings.

"In addition to the efficiencies engendered by our Design Life-Cycle Management solutions, perhaps the key benefit is providing a collaborative platform across the entire supply chain that fosters innovation," James said. "Managing and encouraging innovation is rapidly becoming the strategic competitive advantage across a swath of industries."
