Absolut Bottle Breakthrough at Packaging Conference

December 21, 2012
Holland, OH—December 13, 2012—How do you give almost four million Absolut Unique vodka glass bottles a different look? Fredrik Källqvist, development manager glass, for the Ardagh Group’s Denmark and Sweden business operations will explain just that.

As one of the featured speakers at the 2013 Packaging Conference, Källqvist will discuss how the Ardagh Group developed an algorithm-controlled process capable of designing and directly printing up to 94 quintillion neck-to-heel bottle patterns for Absolut Unique vodka without ever repeating one. The concept is being hailed as one of the most formidable packaging challenges ever undertaken in the spirits category.

The Packaging Conference also will feature many other brand owners and suppliers who also will be discussing their latest packaging initiatives and emerging technologies. Next generation materials, business strategies, sustainability efforts, processing developments, and more will be covered February 4-6, 2013 in Atlanta at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead. Discounted, early registration (by January 15th) is available.

Additional speakers include representatives from Kraft Foods, Mondelēz International, Diageo, Coca-Cola Refreshments, Amcor Rigid Plastics, Sidel, Braskem, Beverage Marketing Corp., Blaige & Co., Milliken, Purac, SACMI Imola, Crown Holdings, Ryder Supply Chain Solutions, ATMI, Association of Post-Consumer Plastic Recyclers, ITW Zip-Pack, Technical Help in Engineering and Marketing (T.H.E.M.), CL&D Digital and many other packaging sector experts.

The Packaging Conference, produced by Plastic Technologies and SBA-CCI Inc., has established a reputation as the must-attend event for the debut of new technologies and other key industry announcements.

“Knowledge is the key to improving processing capability, making the right material selections and engineering for optimum environmental stewardship. The 2013 Packaging Conference will provide the platform for that dialogue,” said John Maddox, president, SBA-CCI.

In addition to the extensive conference schedule, the event also will feature tabletop exhibits from several key industry suppliers.

“The conference is designed to provide the latest information for those in the packaging supply chain. Attendees range from retailers and brand owners to resin suppliers, technology providers, equipment manufacturers and converters. Providing a forum which helps facilitate dialog between supply chain participants is an important element in meeting packaging objectives,” said Maddox.

Registration is $1,900, but those registering prior to January 15th can take advantage of the discounted early registration rate of $1,600. The fees include conference sessions and proceedings, breaks, lunch and a Monday evening reception to promote additional networking. The group rate at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead is an additional $159 per night.

Additionally, Sidel, a leading global provider of PET solutions for liquid packaging, will be hosting a luncheon and tour of its Norcross, GA facility immediately following the conclusion of the conference.
