Sun Chemical Increases Customer Value

October 2005
NORTHLAKE, Ill.—Sun Chemical, the world's foremost manufacturer of printing inks and organic pigments, today announced the alignment of its North American Inks businesses to better serve its customers in different market segments and to overall increase the value to the customer.

"The North American inks market has become increasingly challenging and competitive due to a number of factors," said Michael Griem, president of Sun Chemical's North American Inks business unit. "As the industry leader, it is essential that we are proactive and align our business model to better serve our different markets.  We have reviewed our current organizational structure to ensure that we continue to deliver innovation and quality to our customers at the best possible price, and have decided to move the organization to a model focused on specific markets and customer segments."

Griem noted that the organization will organize around three distinct markets: Publication, Packaging and Commercial. "This alignment enables us to focus on the unique needs of each market segment in order to create the most value for the specific customers in each segment through technology, new products, quality, on time delivery, and superior service," he added. To support this alignment, the following personnel changes were announced:

This includes providing unique products, innovative technologies, and cost effective solutions to customers across all of these packaging markets. The Customer Service Centers and related customer inplant sites that service the packaging market will report to Pettifor. Pettifor joined Sun Chemical Ltd. in the UK in 1994.
