Top Experts Slated For Clemson Corrugated Symposium

October 2007
CLEMSON, S.C.—Clemson University’s Printing and Converting Lab (PrintCon) will host the Fundamentals of Quality Print on Corrugated Symposium, Nov. 14–16, 2007. This annual symposium provides an in-depth overview of the elements of the printing system, examining board liners, anilox rolls, doctor blades, inks, and plate systems to demonstrate how they are integrated together to produce enhanced graphics, from clean solids and line work to halftones and even an introduction to process color. This program is co-sponsored by the Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association (FFTA).

This year’s symposium will features a number of expanded interactive breakout sessions, many held press-side and is a rare opportunity to see Cordes Porcher (PCA) lead his highly popular troubleshooting workshop to identify press issues and recommend corrective action. Throughout the sessions, participants will develop a thorough understanding of controlling the combinations of press and pre-press possibilities to best suit their needs. The discussion will include tools and methods that any plant can implement to analyze and improve print quality.

Other notable industry presenters joining Cordes Porcher will be will be Page Crouch (Clemson University Professor Emeritus), Carl Cecil (Color Resolutions International), Roger Poteet (Poteet Systems), Colleen Twomey (MacDermid Printing Solutions) and Scott Gilbert (Smurfit-Stone). These along with many other respected experts will join current Print/Con trainers, Kern Cox and Rory Marsoun for this highly touted program.

Recent attendee Jeff Putt of DeLine Box illustrates this point saying, “The information given was invaluable for printers, the trainers were highly professional and well-prepared, and the hands-on approach made the (sometimes abstract) concepts clear and concrete. Training dollars well spent for anyone wanting to move their organization forward into high fidelity direct printing.”

Along with the mix of classroom lectures and hands-on training, participants have the opportunity to freely discuss their printing concerns with the experts and Clemson faculty in panel discussions, breakout sessions and evening socials and a special dinner event.

The early registration discounted rate is $695 (regularly $795) with additional saving for groups of 3 or more.
