In 1985, Frantz was hired by Huston Patterson as general manager, where he worked on Sangamon Greeting cards and assisted in establishing national sales territories for labels. The LPIA Hall of Fame is conferred to that label or packaging executive (printer or supplier) who has reached an unsurpassed level of excellence and achievement in the industry—a leader who has gone far beyond the standard obligations to become a dominant force in shaping the business of label printing.

DECATUR, Ill.—Huston Patterson Corp., a Decatur-based large-format package printer, was recently honored by the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters (AICC) and Board Converting News as the 2007 “Innovator of the Year.” The award was given during the AICC’s annual meeting—held in Minneapolis, Minn., Oct. 10-12—in recognition of Huston Patterson’s unique employee, client and vendor training program, the HPx Academy. “This was the first year that AICC ‘Innovator of the Year’ competition solicited entries in the Information Technologies and Training area,” said Steven Young, president of AICC. “Training is vital to our industry and efforts like Huston Patterson’s is what it will take to be

DECATUR, Ill.—Huston Patterson Corp., Decatur, Ill., has purchased two new KBA six-color and coat presses, which will substantially increase the company’s capacity to provide full-service, large-format printing. The new 56-inch, six-color, aqueous coat press will be located in Decatur, and the new 40-inch, six-color, UV or aqueous coat press will be at Sigma Graphics in Ottawa, Ill. The 40 inch press will be operational yet this year and the 56 inch within the first quarter of 2008. “Clients tell us they truly like the idea of us having redundant capabilities within our equipment.
